Holidays

Good times, much needed break although I know that when the semester starts again, I'm going to be totally out of it for a week or two before I get back into the study "mode". Sadly, I'm already looking forward to the Xmas holidays :D!

Fathers day on Sunday and now dad's birthday tomorrow, how lucky is he this week ahah :D, though I still have to get him a present tomorrow (better not forget).

Playing lots of Heroes of Newerth lately, good times and rage worthy times alike. It's been a pretty good game overall, even though it's just a copy of dota but with much needed graphics update + multiplayer upgrades. If anyone wants to play pm me on tucKie :D!

Supskies!

Welp, guess keeping a blog is really alot more difficult than I imagined. Hopefully I can redeem myself with this super duper mega awesome post.

Some updates, got a part time job working thur/fri 9-3. Pretty easy job, not really that challenging but pocket money is always good.

Uni this semester is looking to be a bit more challenging than the past, quite a bit more workload especially with fail lecturers and not so great tutors :<. Should manage, as long as I start keeping up with it all now.

Applied for a few internship positions for the end of the year, nothing to spectacular yet. So yeh powering ahead with a semi decent routine and having a blast catching up with friends/meeting new people whilst I'm at it :D!

Movies Seen

District 9 - 8.5/10
GI Joe: Rise of Cobra - 7/10
The Ugly Truth - 6.5/10
Red Cliff - 8/10

Movies I want to see

The taking of Pelham 123
Public Enemies

Books I've Read
The Way of Shadows - Night Angel Trilogy - Brent Weeks ~ 7.5/10

And for absolutely no reason I shall leave you with a greatness quote

Hiatus!

Awesome word hiatus, perfect word to describe what has happened to my blogging. Well as an update, I'm currently on unibreak till the end of July which is quite awesome imo. Though I haven't got much planned yet will probably see a lot of movies and try to attend a bunch of parties whilst reading some inspirational books.

One book I've recently read was The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbably (by Nassim Nicholas Taleb), it was quite an interesting read and the first semi-philosophical book I've read in awhile. It explores the idea of random events and how they impact us humans. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a thought provoking book :D!

Anyway off to lunch now toodles~

Today!

Fantastic day, caught up with a high school mate of mine Pat who I haven't seen for ages due to him being in "appear offline mode" and e-stalking people (HAH NOW EVERYONE KNOWS YOUR SECRET!), went to the usual movie/lunch + random.

miniMovie Review - The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas
Having been misled by Pat that this movie would have bundles of action and Daniel Craig, I entered the cinema totally expecting a Nazi-Germany film with muchos action and of course lots of Daniel Craig (ie. Defiance). To my initial disappointment, it was not the case and it was in fact a movie devoid of almost any action/fight sequences or scenes.
Fortunately, it did turn out to be quite an awesome movie with good acting overall by all involved, and quite an interesting storyline. However the movie was somewhat tainted by the abundance of English accents.
4/5 Highly recommended watch!

^ Ended up at Norita's and for you unasianified people out there, it's pretty much as it's described, a cafe where you can also play board-games. It's one of the most awesomest place to hang out with friends if you have a thing for board games :D.

We ended up playing UNO, and not suprisingly both of us had forgotten the rules to the game and we played a semi ad-hoc style of uno which just didn't feel right >_>. So moving right along, we decided to try something we both actually know how to play and that lead to the great game we all know as JENGA!

Our masterpiece D<

^normal pat! vs demonic FULL FOCUSED evil pat

^smooooooooooooth!

^our tower of terror! this was the last pic taken, and pat lost right after this picture and thus I am crowned Jenga king!

Had a great time at Norita's would consider going again :D.

Showtime!

Awesome weather today for the easter show, I haven't actually been there since high school but it was pretty good fun :D. The whole atmosphere was very carnival like at times, mixed in with a taste of the rural/country culture of Australia.

Had some tasty waffles, compliments of the wafflehouse. I had the chocolate it was suprisingly better than I expected from the showgrounds.

Saw some sword juggling on a unicycle at the Psycho Sideshow, it was actually one of the most popular events.

Will update later with more pics :>

Procrastination Galore

Quizes make me procrastinate, I have one tomorrow and I have done almost zero preparation for it. I don't know, I think I'm at a point where I find the build up of stress and fear of the quiz to be exhilerating and so I continue to procrastinate :D! Guess I'm one of the few who get a buzz, stressing myself out for exams/quizes.

I hate Tuesday mornings, the trains are always horrendously over loaded. Impossible to sit and barely enough room to even stand. Hope tomorrow is better!

Without further adieu!

Welp, quite a bit of my past time is spent in a world of internet spaceships. It seems to be quite a complex game on the surface but after you've played it for awhile it really is quite simple. I began playing Eve in 2005, sucked in by the promises of hardcore pvp and the idea of griefing other players. However, my first impressions were quite dismal. The game has a somewhat deep learning curve and it really requires alot of time to get into it. Which led to me quiting after less than a week :<.

But eventually i returned to the world of eve, being attracted to the sandbox nature of the game. And this time I stayed and experienced the game as it should be played. I admit that it isn't a very newbie friendly game, however with encouragement from a few friends I'd met prior to eve I slowly progressed and learnt to be a somewhat decent player.

Primarily the game involves flying around in spaceships and exploring the the universe. There are different factions and different races, however once you choose a race you're not really limited to it.

The game doesn't have an experience bar, rather you train up levels of different skills which takes real life time to train and is based on a tiered system, it's pretty good for casual gamers. However that does mean that older players generally have more "skill points" and can fly bigger badder and better ships. BUT the developers (CCP) have done a fantastic job in balancing the ships so that it doesn't really take much time to get down to the nitty gritty of pvp.

Another cool aspect of the game is the fact that almost everything relies on a player built economy. This means that almost all the ships/modules/guns can and is built by the players. That's sounds pretty crazy right? Well because eve runs as 1 persistant universe, it means that there can be up to 50k players online at the same time on the same server as you. That really just boggles my mind :D.

But what really keeps me playing is the large coordinated fleet battles, and this albiet CGed video somewhat represents what this wonderful MMO is all about.

/END NERDNESS

Alright well didn't expect to write as much, but the game deserves it :D. Anyway kidna been procrastinating a bit recently over blogging and doing uni work, so I did this megapost to try and motivate myself. Seems to be working tbh!

If anyone out there rides bikes recreationally, it is awesome! I went on a 2 hour ride along the Cooks River Cycleway from Croydon park on Sunday. It's really relaxing and just watching the scenery go by as you peddle kinda gives you time to think and enjoy the awesome weather!!

Ok wall of text complete, gonna watch some TV :>!

Amusing Tidbits

Yay! another venture into the world of blogging. I think this time, I'll go about it with a bit more conviction and try to keep it relatively up-to-date.

So to start of with, a simple introduction.
I strive to be awesome.
I can be obsessive compulsive (rarely).
I worship procrastination.
I enjoy internet spaceships (eve-online).
and I'm currently plodding along through uni.

Welp on wednesday I got a chance to check out some student exchange options, and after doing a tad of research and consulting with my ever supportive parents, I've decided to find out more and possibly give it a go! I need to get 4 preferences and currently I've got nyu and uc berkeley as two possible choices, and I'm considering other options in Europe or maybe even Japan (can test out my high-school japanese skills >_>).

Applied for a couple of jobs through uni as well, hopefully I'll get a call next week. I'll try and post an update on my eve-o experiences since that's what has been keeping me a little busy recently.
